This is a story of an intelligent chimp pan zee. His is a 25-year-old chimp whose name is Panzee.  He has been trained to understand more than 130 English words. Panzee can also recognizes words in sine-wave form, a type of synthetic speech that reduces language to three whistle-like tones. Sine-wave speech replicates the estimated frequency and amplitude patterns of natural utterances. Like humans beings, mammals do not need unique cognitive abilities to process speech, and that instead, the general auditory processes that we share with apes, and probably a common ancestor, can be used to accomplish speech perception tasks.

What is has been known as “Speech is Special” has been disproved.  This has been an ongoing argument proposes that besides humans being the only species able to produce speech, due to their anatomy, they also have a specialized cognitive module to process speech. An alternative view has been proposed saying that auditory processing is fundamentally similar across most mammals, and that many animals have latent abilities for speech perception. Humans are not the only one capable of producing speech nor are human beings the only ones capable of understanding speech. Mammals like human beings, when exposed to things at an early age are capable of understanding at a later age.

It is has been difficult for animals to have rights because they are not like human beings. It has been a long and slow process for animals to gain rights. It has long been thought that animals are only capable of surviving. A technique that has been based off pure instinct. Even going as far as saying animals are not capable of emotion. With this type of research, it show that animals wild or domestic are capable of learning like humans when exposed to different environments of earlier age.

With this type of research, we are learning that animal are not so different from us. They just have a different anatomy then we do. Research like this show that animals are close relative. With more proof that we can provide about animals through research the better chances animal activist have to proposes better living rights so that animals have a better chance at living in harmony with human without fear. This goes to show that animals have similar intellect as we do.

The more proof there is the better the animal right are. In most cases, it is said that animal rights are not practical because animals are not willing or able to take responsibility for their actions and thus cannot be afforded any concomitant rights and if granted rights they would just crap all over things, steal food, and then not go to court when summoned. These researches can help animal rights by showing that animals are capable of learning. They can be taught responsibility and thus create more rights for them although it will not me comparable to rights of humans. Animals are just more intelligent if not more than we are. We all had to learn right from wrong, so why animal cannot be taught right from wrong?
